Love & Hip Hop Season 6

VH1 has finally announced the cast for Season 6 of "Love & Hip Hop: New York." While Erica Mena revealed she was quitting the series following last year's reunion, other veteran stars will return like Yandy Smith, her husband Mendeecees Harris and Rich Dollaz. They'll be joined by a few new faces, like Remy Ma, who announced her involvement several months ago.
Check out four things you should know about the new season of "Love & Hip Hop: New York," including the rest of the cast, below:
1. Who's Returning
Rashidah Ali: Rashidah is a veteran on VH1's "Love & Hip Hop: New York" and is all set to return for the show's new season. Viewers can probably expect her to bring the same level of sass and drama she's brought to past seasons. According to VH1, Rashidah will try managing a few of the new cast members.
Yandy Smith and Mendeecees Harris: Yandy is back along with her husband Mendeecees. The couple, who tied the knot on a VH1 wedding special, will juggle life as newlyweds, the addition of their daughter Skylar and blending their families. And on top of all that, Yandy and Mendeecees are searching for a bigger home and Yandy wants to start managing artists again. Mendeecees is also still dealing with some legal issues.
Rich Dollaz: Rich appeared on "Love & Hip Hop: Hollywood" with Moniece Slaughter but will return to the New York franchise for the new season. As previously reported, Rich and Moniece broke up and it appears he will be on the new series with his daughter Ashley and her mom. Rich has been flooding his Instagram page with photos of himself and his baby mama.
Peter Gunz, his wife Amina Buddafly and Tara Wallace: Peter is bringing his baby mama drama to Season 6 of "Love & Hip Hop: New York," and will supposedly try and get Tara and Amina to finally bond with each other. Last season, Peter was in a love triangle with Tara -- whom he shares two sons with -- and his wife Amina -- whom he just had a baby daughter with.
Cisco Rosado: Cisco is also one of the returning cast members. He was introduced for the first time on Season 5 with his girlfriend Diamond Strawberry. The pair had a nasty breakup on the show last year, but VH1 teases that the music producer has someone new in his life.
2. New Cast Members
Remy Ma and Papoose: Remy Ma was released from prison last year, so the show will follow her as she transitions to life as a free woman. The rapper will also be working on her career, as well as planning a wedding to Papoose.
Young B and Mariah Lyn: Young B rose to fame from the song "Chicken Noodle Soup." VH1 didn't reveal too much information about Young B, but she and Mariahwill be trying to get their careers off the ground in the new season.
SexxyLexxy and MissMoeMoney: The two rappers make up the Harlem rap duo BBOD. They confirmed their involvement on the group's Instagram page, telling fans that they were excited to join the series.
DJ Self: According to VH1, DJ Self's storyline will show him balancing life as a DJ for Power 105.1 and his relationship with New York dancer Yorma.
Cardi B.: Cardi B. is popular on Instagram, a former stripper and is not afraid to speak her mind. She'll definitely bring a ton of sass to the show.
3. Who Quit
Erica Men announced last season she was done with the VH1 series because she wanted to focus on life with Bow Wow. In recent months, the pair has been plagued with rumors that they called off their engagement.
Model Jhonni Blaze also left the show, along with Erica's ex-girlfriend Cyn Santana and Cisco's ex Diamond. It also looks like Precious Paris, Chink Santana and Chrissy Monroe won't return for Season 6.

Natural Hair Care Products, For Us By Us

Support African American businesses!
How many people use these products? Are they carried at your local hair store? Most of the products listed below are sold at major chains.
Miss Jessie’s
Miss Jessie’s, founded by Miko and the late Titi Branch,  is a pioneer in the world of natural hair.  It was one of the first product lines to be offered at major retail outlets — thus paving the way for others.  Miss Jessie’s can be found at Target, Walmart, Walgreens, CVS, and Sally Beauty Supply nationwide.
Although Miss Jessie’s can be pricey, you can often find great sales at your favorite retailers — so stock up when you see the savings!  Check out the Miss Jessie’s website to find out where to buy their products in your state.  If you are considering Miss Jessie’s, try the Curly Pudding or Curly Meringue.
SheaMoisture
SheaMoisture is another natural hair brand that is a veteran in its role as national brand.  Many transitioners and new naturals turn to SheaMoisture due to its accessibility at an affordable price.  SheaMoisture can be found at stores like Walmart, Target, CVS, and RiteAid. I was surprised to find out that they are also sold at grocery stores like Shoprite and Giant.  Because of its great track record in natural products, it has expanded to hair dyes, makeup, and body products.  Crowd favorites include: Coconut & Hibiscus Curl Enhancing Smoothie and Raw Shea Butter Moisture Retention Shampoo.
Curls
Curls carries a set of natural hair products for the entire family.  Founded in 2002 by Mahisha Dellinger, Curls is a natural hair brand that is the byproduct of her extensive chemistry background.  Curls can be found at Target, CVS, Walgreens, Walmart, Duane Reade, and Nordstrom Rack.  Try the Curl Control Paste, and Creme Brûlée for styling with amazing results.
Alikay Naturals
Created by YouTube Guru, Rochelle Graham and her husband, Alikay Naturals includes natural ingredients inspired by her grandmother.  Just last year, Alikay Naturals showed up on Target shelves and in 2015 you will be able to purchase her products at Sally’s Beauty Supply.  Interested in trying Alikay Naturals? Then you must try the Lemongrass Leave-in Conditioner.
Karen’s Body Beautiful
Created by Karen Tappin, Karen’s Body Beautiful is an organic natural hair care line that is designed to counter an industry with many carcinogens and preservatives.  Her line of hair and body products can be found Target stores and HEB stores.  Their most popular product is Sweet Ambrosia Leave-in Conditioner.
Oyin Handmade
This Baltimore-based company was founded by Jamyla Bennu. This ingredient-conscious line uses honey — “oyin” means honey — as its base.  For years, natural hair enthusiasts have raved about their products, but they were mostly available online.  Now you can find them at select Target stores nationwide.  Interested in finding out where you can purchase their products?  Check out where their products can be purchased in your state.  Whether you find them online or on-the-ground, make sure you try Hair Dew, which is their most popular product.
Thank God I’m Natural
Founded by Chris-Tia Donaldson, Thank God I’m Natural, is a natural, organic brand that can now be found at Target Stores (as of March 1, 2015)! Chris-Tia prides herself on creating products in “small batches using the finest natural and organic ingredients for maximum freshness”.  Product ingredients include shea butter and olive oil; but [thankfully] they don’t include parabens and phthalates.
Eden BodyWorks
Eden BodyWorks was founded by Jasmine Lawrence when she was just 13 years old! You may have seen her on Oprah. Her products are “wellness and beauty inspired by nature”.  They are designed to help your hair feel “softer, stronger, and healthier”.  These products can be found at Walmart, HEB, CVS, Walgreens, CVS, Kroger, Target, and Sally Beauty Supply.  To find out where to buy their products near you, check out their website and click the “Where To Buy” tab.

What is your Texture?

What is your texture?
Knowing your texture of hair is the start of natural hair. Many products work better with the different type of products. You might look at your friend and say oh wow what do you use in your hair, well remember before you run to the store to purchase the product, ask your friend the texture of there hair.

The terror of the 4s

4a, 4b,4c
What texture are you?

Type 4a is tightly coiled hair that has an "S" pattern. It has more moisture than Type 4b coils and has a visible curl pattern. The circumference of the spirals is close to that of a crochet needle. The hair can be wiry or fine-textured. It is usually fragile with high density. Type 4a hair has fewer cuticle layers than other hair types, which means it has less natural protection from damage.

Quick Tips

  • Co-wash with a moisturizing sulfate-free cleanser
  • Clarify your scalp with shampoos containing tea tree or jojoba oil
  • Use thicker natural emollients like mango and shea butters to maximize your wash-and-go, twist-out, or bantu knot-out style after washing

Type 4b strands have a "Z" shape and a less defined curl pattern. Instead of curling or coiling, the hair bends in sharp angles like the letter "Z." Type 4b hair is tightly coiled and can feel wiry to the touch. Type 4b hair can range from fine and thin to wiry and coarse with many strands packed densely together. This hairtype often experiences shrinkage up to 75% of its actual hair length. Type 4b coils can hold altered styles well in comparison to Types 2, 3, or 4a hair.

Quick Tips

  • Practice the LOC or LCO Method to keep coils moisturized
  • Pre-poo with coconut oil or castor oil to help retain natural oils in your scalp
  • Create a heat-free style on stretched hair with perm rods, Curlformers, or flexi rods for maximum definiton and less frizz
  • Use a t-shirt or microfiber towel to dry hair after washing; terry cloth will strip its natural moisture and cause tension on the strands

Type 4c hair is composed of strands that will almost never clump without the use of styling techniques. Type 4c hair can range from fine, thin, soft to coarse with densely packed strands. Some say Type 4c coils look identical to 4b except that the curls are tightly kinked with less definition. Tighter coily hair can shrink more than 75%.

Quick Tips

  • Use a creamy humectant as a leave-in to maximize protection from the elements
  • A curl defining custard or gelee can stretch the coil safely for twist-outs and braid-outs
  • Cover your hair at night with a silk or satin cap to protect your hair and prevent breakage
  • Use a detangling co-wash with slippery elm or marshmallow root

Being successful......

Good morning...

Do you love what you do?
If you love what you do then you will not mind doing it.
Just think if you are a wife or mother, sometimes you might not be up to it, but you love those roles so much you do them. You fight through sickness and tiredness to be a good mom and wife.

What can you do to better prepare yourself for your future?
What are your plans for today?
Are you working towards your end goal?

We are so quick to complain about what we don't have instead of being happy for what we do have? Live life, stop complaining, make things happen....

You can do whatever you put your mind to....

If you are at a dead end job and want more, look deep into yourself and say I want more. Look in the mirror, say it out loud.

You have to go to www.bravotv.com to catch the whole episode. I am thinking T-Pain needs a late night show.

I love sharing....

So I am obsessed with this furniture, it is a little on the pricey side but I am in love. Once you purchase your sectional make sure you accessorize the room correctly. The accessories, window coverings,  and tables are what completes the look. Decorating can be such a fun thing, but you have to make sure you PLAN.

What are protective styles?

What are protective styles?
When you wear your ends tucked away, your hair is in a protective style. This is important because your ends are the oldest and most fragile part of the strand. Frequent and regular washing, conditioning, styling, and detangling requires constant tugging on your hair, making it weaker than the last time. As a result, it's normal to experience some hair fall each time you touch your hair.
In the world of natural hair, rocking protective styles has become an added bonus of having more (better) options for concealing hair
on a multitude of levels.
 Protective styles include but are
not limited to twists, braids,
updos, and wigs. A lot of times,
added synthetic or human hair is added for even more
 versatility in color, thickness, length,
and appearance in texture.
These protective styles are extremely
popular in our community.

Twists

Many of these styles use a two-strand braiding technique in which,
like some braided styles, allow the hair to be separated in freeform
sections that have the freedom of movement. Twists are versatile
enough to be combined and pinned up, also qualifying them as updos.

  • Havana
  • Flat
  • Senegalese
  • Two-strand
  • Three-strand
  • Mini
  • Chunky
  • Kinky
  • Faux Locs (Yarn)

Updos

A hairstyle that calls for your curly, loose hair to be tucked away,
smoothed down, and out of your face is known as an updo.
This look tends to be favorable during special occasions
and formal events; nonetheless, it's still the
  • Pigtails
  • Bun
  • Chignon
  • Beehive
  • Top knot
  • Ninja bun

Wigs

Why not cover your natural hair up from root to tip?
If you'd rather give your entire head a break from constant
manipulation and styling, opt for a wig.
There are different types of wigs, most of them considered protective styles.

I need this skirt in my life ASAP....
